International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) aim to improve the quality of financial reporting by public sector entities. They lead to better informed assessments of the resource allocation decisions made by governments and thereby increase transparency and accountability.
CIPFA (the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy) and IASeminars have joined together to hold an eight-day immersion workshop in London, 20-30 August 2013 to provide participants with a sound knowledge of IPSAS theory and assist with the application through examples from international organisations and national governments.

The workshop provides a detailed review of all significant accruals basis IPSAS requirements, with many explanations and examples being presented over the two weeks. It covers all of the current and anticipated recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure requirements of IPSAS as well as an update on IPSAS developments. Where applicable, relevant IFRS requirements will also be explained.

Prepare IPSAS-compliant financial statements
Comply with IPSAS disclosure requirements
Understand accrual-based IPSAS requirements
Implement IPSAS recognition and measurement rules for assets, liabilities, revenues and expenses
Plan ahead for issues that arise when transitioning from the cash basis to the accrual basis of accounting
